Course Overview
Stay on the cutting edge with the latest advancements in Computer Vision (CV), and revolutionize your understanding of image and video analysis across industries. Gain essential knowledge in computer vision and delve into the advancements brought by deep learning. Students will build a strong foundation in deep learning, exploring feedforward Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and mastering techniques for hyperparameter tuning. Our focus then shifts to Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), the backbone of computer vision. Gain a comprehensive understanding of CNNs, their applications, and how to enhance performance through data augmentation and transfer learning.
Through hands-on programming assignments using Google Colab, you'll apply your knowledge directly in a collaborative environment. In addition, we'll introduce you to exciting AI tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney. Experience their capabilities firsthand, learn to craft structured prompts, and explore the synergy between natural language processing and computer vision.
By course completion, you'll have a deep understanding of deep learning fundamentals, popular network architectures, advanced techniques in detection and segmentation, and practical skills in utilizing deep learning for image restoration. Gain confidence in tackling complex computer vision challenges.

Chen, An
Dr. An Mei Chen is VP of Engineering at Qualcomm with extensive experience in research and product development in advanced wireless, machine learning, mobile health, and IoT. She is currently with Qualcomm’s technology licensing business, where she leads advanced technology development and drives ecosystem development and strategy. Ms. Chen received her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on wireless communication systems and information theory from the University of California, San Diego. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi.
Chung-Chi, Tsai
Dr. Chung-Chi (Charles) Tsai holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing-Hua University in Taiwan, an M.S. degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in the USA. During his academic journey, he received a full scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, for a one-year exchange program at the University of New Mexico, USA. He currently works as a staff engineer for the Qualcomm Camera Machine Learning team in the United States. His research interests focus on image restoration and computer vision applications for low-latency, low-power camera systems.
