Education

The Education Department provides integrated professional development for individuals, school communities, administrators and vocational institutions while incorporating best practices and the latest research in content, pedagogy and andragogy.

We work closely with the UC San Diego Department of Education Studies (EDS) in developing an array of courses, certificates, and state-approved credentials designed to prepare educators for reflective practice in diverse classrooms, focusing on issues of equity and excellence. We also collaborate with other campus entities to provide innovative programming locally, nationally, and internationally.

Commission Approved Programs

We offer several programs in this area including Clear Credential, CLAD Through CTEL, Reading & Literacy Authorization, Designated Subjects, and coursework for Added Authorizations.

Coursework offered in various curriculum topics with specialized instruction to satisfy your Continuing Education or Salary Point Coursework requirements.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

Our Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) programs provide training in teaching English as a second or foreign language to ESL/EFL students. They increase job prospects in English language teaching and international education both in the U.S. and overseas.
