To be considered for the UC San Diego Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program, a student must successfully complete a 3-step process:
The UC San Diego Post Bac Premed Program does not have a rolling admission policy. Submitting your application early in no way improves your chances of gaining admission.
Step 1 — The Application
All applications must be submitted via PostBacCAS, a centralized application service which allows applicants to research programs and then use one online application to apply to all programs of interest.
In order to be considered for admission to the UC San Diego Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program, the following is required:
- Complete the PostBacCAS application as well as the UC San Diego supplemental questions
- Create a UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies account
Submit three letters of recommendation via PostBacCAS. Your letters may come a variety of sources, including professors, faculty, employers, supervisors, advisors, or volunteer coordinators. Please have your letter writers upload their confidential letters through PostBacCAS.
Have official transcripts from all undergraduate colleges and universities submitted directly to PostBacCAS:
PostBacCAS Transcript Processing Center
P.O. Box 9209
Watertown, MA 02471The PostBacCAS transcript verification process takes up to 4 weeks during peak periods, so please plan accordingly.
Step 2 — The Interview
Interviews are by invitation only. Applicants will be informed whether they are invited for an interview by late February with interviews taking place primarily in March. There will be two virtual interviews required.
Those not invited to interview should understand that the application process is exceptionally competitive, and students are encouraged to re-apply for the program next year.
Step 3 — Admission
Applicants will be notified whether they are accepted to the program in April. Accepted students are asked to provide a $500 non-refundable deposit to hold their place in the program. This deposit counts toward the tuition for the program.
The Admissions Committee for the UC San Diego Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program includes faculty from the UC San Diego School of Medicine as well as Academic Directors from UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies.
