Drops, Withdrawals, and Refunds

All programs that last 8 weeks or more:

• Prior to 1st day of program (published start-date on the website): Full refund of tuition, student service fee, and medical insurance.
• 1st day of program through end of the first week of classes (3:00pm Friday): 50% of tuition only minus a $500 withdrawal fee
• Week 2 of program classes and later: No refunds

2-week and 4-week English language programs:

• Prior to 1st day of program (published start-date on the website): Full refund of tuition, student service fee, and medical insurance.
• Day one of program: 50% refund of tuition only minus a $500 withdrawal fee
• Day two of program and later: No refunds

Live Online Conversation or Live Online Conversation and Fluency:

• Up to 2 days after the program start-date by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time: Receive a full tuition refund.
• 3 days after the program start-date and later: No refunds 

Summer University Program Session I:

• June TBD and before: Full refund of tuition, minus a $500 cancellation fee
• June TBD - July TBD at 3 p.m.: 50% refund of tuition, minus a $500 cancellation fee
• July TBD after 3 p.m.: No refunds

Summer University Program Session II:

• July TBD and before: Full refund of tuition, minus a $500 cancellation fee
• July TBD - August TBD at 3:00 p.m.: 50% refund of tuition, minus a $500 cancellation fee
• August TBD after 3:00 p.m.: No refunds

All refund requests must be made in writing to ipfinancials@ucsd.edu. You will receive a confirmation of your request. Approved refunds will take approximately 4-6 weeks to be processed. Refunds are issued in the same method of payment (check or charge) of payment, except in the case of bank wire payments. Student payments made by bank wire can be refunded by check or bank wire. Tuition is not refunded to students who arrive late for the program, who leave because of homesickness, or who are dismissed from the program.

Students who applied through an agency or representative are subject to the agency refund policy and will receive any refund through their agency, not from UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies International Programs.
