Level II is designed for beginner students who have had some basic exposure to Spanish. Conversations include describing people, professions, places and events using a variety of regular and irregular verbs in the present tense. Students continue to expand their cultural awareness in a lively, interactive learning environment. Textbook chapters half of chapter 3, chapter 4 and 5 are covered.
Note: Note: recommended prerequisite: "Spanish for Communication I", or the equivalent. Requirement for the Professional Certificate in Spanish Language.

Esser, Joanna
Joanna Esser is a Spanish and English as a Second or Other Language Instructor. Born and raised in Warsaw, Poland, she moved to the United States with her family in 9th grade and graduated from Santa Monica High School. Having transferred to UCLA from Santa Monica Community College, she graduated with a BA in Spanish and Hispanic Literature. She entered California State University in Los Angeles and earned her Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language in 2004, following a two-year adventure with teaching English in Asia. Gemma Dale is a native of Madrid, Spain, with over 10 years of experience teaching Spanish to high school and university students. She loves teaching all levels of Spanish and Spanish culture and helping her students improve their language skills. Gemma also loves traveling with American students to Spain and taking them to typical Spanish restaurants and cities. She earned her law degree and Master's degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain.
