Arabic for Communication I
LAAR-40000
Expand your worldview or your career opportunities by learning Arabic.. In this entry-level course, you will be given an introduction to the Arabic alphabet and script, which focuses on developing basic communication skills in colloquial Egyptian Arabic. Various local dialects make up the spoken language of Arabic speakers. Differences between them, though, are slight, and generally speakers of different regional dialects are able to understand each other with little trouble. This class will focus on Colloquial Arabic, which is the language used in everyday conversation. Colloquial Arabic varies considerably from country to country, but this course concentrates on Egyptian, which is widely understood throughout the Arabic-speaking world. The majority of Arabic movies and songs are produced in Egypt, making colloquial Egyptian Arabic possibly the most popular of these varied tongues.
What You Will Learn:
- Arabic social customs such as greetings and hospitality, weather and seasons, colors and clothing, time and locations.
- Introduction to the Arabic alphabet and script.
- New vocabulary, expressions and functional sentences.
- How to master Colloquial Arabic for everyday communication.
