Healthcare Revenue Cycle Intensive
MEDC-40031
Revenue cycle management is the set of financial and operational processes, utilizing the electronic health record and billing and coding software that tracks patient care episodes from scheduling and registration to final payment of a balance. Hospitals and other healthcare organizations need to have a viable and effective revenue cycle team to optimize cash receivables. The opportunity to improve healthcare revenue cycle management within the healthcare landscape is ongoing, as it is an ever-changing environment. Regardless of changes from the political climate and whether the U.S. healthcare system stays with our current model, moves to a complete Value Based model, or implements Medicare for all, hospitals and healthcare organizations will continue to have a need for skilled revenue cycle employees to ensure the financial health of the organization. Without a viable, effective revenue cycle management in place, hospitals and other healthcare organizations can receive lower reimbursements leading to decreased revenues. A certificate in Healthcare Revenue Cycle from UC San Diego Extension will demonstrate advanced skill sets for employers to differentiate applicants for entry level positions and advancements. The 90 hours of intensive education will provide students with the necessary advanced knowledge and skills necessary for job-seeking and/or career advancement. Currently, no educational institution is offering instructor led education in healthcare revenue cycle.
