GITC AMAISE I

Special educators, paraprofessionals and therapists working with students with special needs will learn to play folk instruments, sing, write lyrics for learning, lead songs with students, and facilitate hands-on adaptive music making as a part of daily lessons and classroom activities and routines. Participants will cross train on adaptive percussion instruments, ukuleles, guitars, and electronic instruments including the Beamz, Jamstik and Air Jamz. No musical experience is required to take this course. Instruments will be provided. Teachers and staff members providing educational, therapeutic and support services to students who take this class will learn to make foundational music in alignment with Tk-5 national and state standards for Music using percussion, voice and folk instruments. This class includes 6 instructional hours, 4 field/home practice and/or classroom contact hours with students or children.
