Being able to communicate your ideas accurately and persuasively is essential in a business environment. Explore the communication skills necessary to be productive in today's complex workplace. Discover how to analyze and address a range of audiences. Learn the basics of speech organization, body language, vocal variety and speaking without preparation. Improve your interactions one-on-one and in meetings.

Topics include recognizing and responding to nonverbal messages, personal vs. position power, negotiation, accommodating individual differences (age, culture, gender), giving and receiving constructive criticism, understanding group dynamics and team development, professional writing skills, and presentation skills.

This course will prepare you to communicate more effectively in business. You will explore the foundations of business communication, develop your business writing skills (applying clear communication principles to written communication), improve normal business correspondence, write more effective reports, and learn how to improve oral presentations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will better understand:

In this role, Shawn advises early to mid-stage business clients on capital strategy, financial performance and liquidity events. He has 20 years of experience in franchise and technology based organizations. During his career, he was able to play a part in launching over 3,000 franchise business locations that generate over $1.5B annually. His experience ranges from managing one of the largest retail branding changes (The UPS Store), to integrating artificial intelligence to automate customer interactions (IBM Watson), to particpating in an executive team that took a start-up from launch to a $90M private equity deal.
