U.S. Constitution Preparation Course and Examination

This course includes two informative lectures that cover essential elements of the United States Constitution. Participants will review and analyze the meaning of the Constitution as it was originally formulated and developed through amendments and judicial interpretation. The materials and practice exam will prepare participants to pass the U.S. Constitution Examination. The U.S. Constitution Examination is then required at the end of the course.

CCTC Renewal Requirement

This course fulfills the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirement for principles and practices of the U.S. Constitution (renewal requirement code US). This course can be taken on its own or through the California Induction Clear Credential program. A copy of the course description, syllabus, and an official UC San Diego DES transcript may be required for credentialing purposes.

Course attendance is asynchronous, however the U.S. Constitution Examination MUST be completed during a specific time period to earn a passing grade. 

EDUC-30008 is designed to allow students maximum flexibility as they prepare to take the U.S. Constitution Examination. Enrolled students will have open access to all Course Materials until mid-week of the final week of the course. The U.S. Constitution Examination will open at 12am Wednesday of final week of course within the Assignments section of Canvas. Students have until 11:55pm the next day to complete and submit the exam. Once the exam has been opened, it must be completed and submitted within 2 hours. It must be completed in one session. If the exam is closed prior to being submitted, all completed answers will be lost. Instructor individually reviews all exams to ensure accurate grading.

UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies students must follow the UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies Academic Integrity Policy, which administers all instances of academic misconduct.

He is a member of the Phi Alpha Theta history honors society and has researched and studied world history from ancient to modern times. This research has included extensive primary and secondary source material. He has lead lecture discussions in history at the graduate level as well as taught from K-12 as a substitute teacher for the Ramona Unified School District. He has a California BCLAD clear credential (Spanish) with authorizations to teach social science, English, Spanish and foundational math. He has a background in the studies of all of world history and has taught SDAIE history course with ELLs from all over the world. He currently teaches at San Marcos High School.
