Designed for those who have familiarity with the basic structures of Spanish, Level III students learn to discuss many aspects of food, celebrations, responding to requests, inviting and declining politely, expressing to have a good time, congratulation someone, and more. Conversational skills improve through a variety of small group and pair activities, and personal presentations using preterite and imperfect tenses. Textbook chapters 6 and 7 are covered.
Note: Recommended prerequisite: "Spanish for Communication II," or the equivalent. Requirement for the Professional Certificate in Spanish Language.

Manzano, Adriana
Adriana Manzano is Mexican American. Her first language is Spanish. Her life has been heavily influenced by her culture, and she has grown up with all the customs and traditions of a first-generation household. Adriana received her BA in liberal studies with a minor in Spanish from CSU, Chico and her BCLAD from CSU, Sacramento. While working on earning her credential she joined a study abroad program where she lived in Queretaro, Mexico for a year. As an elementary school teacher, she has spent the majority of her career working in dual immersion programs.

Colston, Ana
Ana Colston is a native of Spain, where she earned a BA in English from the University of Alcalá de Henares. She came to the US in 2001 and received her Ph.D. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of California in Santa Barbara. Ana has been teaching Spanish at Francis Parker School for 15 years and has recently completed the Translation and Interpretation Certificate program at UCSD Extension.
Ana enjoys reading, hiking, working out, baking, and spending time with her husband, two children, six dogs and five cats. Her favorite places in the world are Prague and Barcelona and in the near future she hopes to travel to Costa Rica and Iceland.
