Discover the most commonly encountered problems when preparing and drafting documents for real estate transactions and learn how to solve them. Fundamental principles of real estate law, including ownership, sale, leasing, financing, & government regulation are surveyed. Instruction covers practical and procedural tasks involved in California real property law, including drafting and reviewing basic documents such as deeds, promissory notes, deeds of trust, purchase and sale agreements, and residential and commercial leases. Remedies available to secured parties in real estate financing transactions, title insurance, escrow, foreclosure, and landlord-tenant relationships are also covered.

Kevin M. Burke, J.D., is a Broker Associate with Burke Real Estate Consultants, Inc. (in both California and Virginia) a professional Real Estate Consulting Firm in San Diego, California.
He holds a Juris Doctorate degree and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Real Estate Transactions in law school. Kevin has considerable trial experience testifying as an Expert Witness on the Standard of Care of Real Estate Agents, Disclosure obligations of Sellers and Agents in real estate transactions, and Market Conditions in San Diego County.
Kevin is the immediate past Chair of REALTOR® Risk Management and Consumer Protection for the California Association of REALTORS® and has held positions on the Executive Committee and Legal Affairs Forum. He has also held positions as President of the North San Diego County Association of REALTORS® and Chairman of the Board of the Del Mar Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Kevin was the 2019 President of the Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS®, the seventh largest local real estate association in the United States. Kevin was the Vice Chair of their Risk Management Committee and is the current Chair of the SDMLS Rules Committee.
A Real Estate Licensee since 1979, Kevin teaches almost every tool of the industry needed by new and veteran REALTORS®! Kevin also teaches Real Property Law (MCLE Continuing Education for Attorneys) at UCSD and has taught Real Estate Practice, Sales & Marketing for the Real Estate Professional, Legal Aspects of Real Estate, Real Estate Principles, and Property Management at various Colleges for over twenty years!
