Discover the essential knowledge and skills of Human Resources Management while exploring emerging trends and the latest regulations shaping HR practices. This comprehensive course provides an introduction to key topics, including HR strategic planning, talent acquisition and performance management, training and development, compensation and reward systems, benefits design and admininistration, equity, diversity and inclusion, employee and labor relations, federal and state labor laws, workplace health and safety, productivity and organizational effectiveness. Blending theory with actionable insights, this course equips participants with practical knowledge they can apply immediately. It is designed for people interested in learning more about HR, new or current HR practitioners, or anyone responsible for managing a business and people.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:

Laura Martella has more than 20 years of diverse experience in business operations and as an HR professional. Throughout her career, she has provided strategic HR management and leadership at small to mid-sized and large companies in Los Angeles and San Diego, California. Her industry experience spans non-profit, publishing, technology, real estate associations, professional HR consulting, and she is currently a senior HR leader for California Coast Credit Union. Her previous positions include senior HR leadership positions at SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Zoo organization. Ms. Martella has expertise in employee and labor relations, workplace investigations, talent acquisition, affirmative action, compensation and benefits, performance management, and workers’ compensation. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix and her master’s degree from the University of San Diego. Ms. Martella is also a certified SHRM-SCP.
