Certificate Guidelines

All candidates who wish to receive the Early Childhood Education Certificate are required to:
1. Complete the application for the Early Childhood Education certificate program
2. Pay the certificate fee
3. Complete all the required online courses with a grade of a "C" or better
4. Coursework must be completed within 5 years of beginning the program
 
EDUC 42408 Child Growth and Development and EDUC 42410 Developmentally Appropriate Practices in Early Childhood are required prerequisites for all the other courses throughout the program. All courses must be completed prior to enrolling in EDUC 42416 Early Education Portfolio.

Conditions for Admission

This program is designed for:
1. Individuals preparing for a teaching role in an early childhood education setting
2. Teachers with a Multiple Subjects’ teaching credential who need to meet California Transitional Kindergarten (TK) requirements
3. Care providers seeking an in-depth understanding of their child’s development and how to best encourage growth through the various stages of early childhood
