Memorable Women in San Diego History: A Documentary

Speaker Elsa Sevilla
Coordinator Steve Clarey
This special episode of San Diego’s Historic Places with Elsa Sevilla—host, speaker and author— celebrates Women’s History and her mission to bring history to life by sharing the untold stories of women and black, indigenous and people of color whose voices have too often been left out. From the First People of the Kumeyaay Nation to the Spanish, Mexican and pioneer eras through to the present, women have shaped San Diego’s story. They were business owners, ranchers, doctors, midwives, authors, writers, artists and mothers— fearless trailblazers who were unapologetic and ahead of their time. Through resilience, vision and determination, they built communities, broke barriers, and left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire today.
