How Walking Faster With Mobile Health Devices Can Help Boost the Brain

This lecture will explore the connection between
physical activity, cognitive well-being and brain
health. Drawing from existing research and her own
studies, Professor Zlatar will discuss how mobile
health devices can serve as personalized tools to
track progress and help optimize walking speed to
help individuals walk for their brain health.


Speaker Bio

Presenter: Zvinka Zlatar is an associate
professor of psychiatry at UC San Diego and a
neuropsychologist specializing in Alzheimer’s
disease and related disorders (ADRD) diagnosis.
Her research program seeks to reduce ADRD risk
by developing novel digital health interventions
that target modifiable lifestyle factors such
as physical activity and sedentary time, while
investigating how they affect brain plasticity and
cognition. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from
the University of Florida.
