An Update on Gastrointestinal Issues Confronting Older Adults

As a follow-on to the summer lecture on colon cancer, this lecture will discuss gastrointestinal issues confronting older adults such as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and the other major gastrointestinal malignancies including esophagus, stomach and pancreas. We will investigate and review the epidemiology of these cancers, focus on present and future screening strategies and review evidence-based approaches to prevention of these malignancies.
Speaker Bio
Presenter: Walter J. Coyle, the division head of gastroenterology and a professor of medicine at Scripps Clinic and Scripps Health in La Jolla, has been in practice for more than 20 years. He received his medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
