Osher Members at the San Diego Zoo
Osher members get a behind-the-scenes tour of the San Diego Zoo.
by Carol Roberts
Fifty excited Osher members met at the San Diego Zoo on November 10. We gathered under this fantastic sculpture at the entrance. Our very knowledgeable guides, Ana and Adriana, met us and directed us to our double decker bus. We spent a wonderful hour driving through various exhibits learning information about the animals we could see, ending with a stop at the elephant exhibit.
Inside one of the buildings, we were shown actual pieces of elephant anatomy with detailed
explanations on how they are studied and cared for. Then we went outside to view two elephants and watched as they performed tasks in order to be fed. It was a perfect way to end our tour.
