Sally Ride Science Academy Summer STEAM Program

Spark curiosity and creativity at the Sally Ride Science Academy! Designed for K–12 students, our hands-on STEAM workshops let kids step into the roles of space explorers, coders, marine biologists, and more. Led by expert instructors, these workshops make learning fun while opening doors to exciting STEAM careers.

Lower Elementary School

Ignite imagination in young explorers that want to dive into fun, hands-on adventures in marine life, building, robots, coding, and even messy science experiments—perfect for growing minds in K-1st and 2nd-3rd grades!

Upper Elementary School

Spark curiosity where young learners explore exciting fields like marine biology, engineering, robotics, programming, and even messy discoveries through fun, hands-on activities for grades 4 through 5.

Middle School

Dive into dynamic workshops where students can explore fields like engineering, robotics, entrepreneurship, marine biology, geology, and even creative areas like art, VR, and screenwriting through hands-on projects for middle schoolers in grades 6 through 8.

High School

High school students in grades 9-12 can explore their passions with workshops in cutting-edge fields like AI, robotics, space exploration, epidemiology, digital media, marine biology, and sustainability, all designed to inspire and prepare them for future STEAM careers.

How to Enroll

Take a moment to create an account in the student's name. Do not use your student's school email. Proceed to STEP TWO if you have created an account previously.

NOTE: Parents/guardians, if you are enrolling multiple students into the program, please create separate accounts for each student, and ensure you are logged into each student's account when processing enrollment.

Click the course grade level button below each course grade level in the above section to view the course offerings by session.

Select the course(s) of your choice by clicking on the course titles.

You will be directed to the course landing page. Click "add to cart" to add course offering to your shopping cart.

Return to the Sally Ride Science Academy page and repeat as needed to enroll in multiple courses.

Complete the authorization form for each enrolled student.

FERPA Form

Students who wish to have parents make changes to their account, such as adding or dropping a course, must fill out the FERPA form.

FERPA Policies

Students have the right to authorize additional individuals to have access to their education record. Students may authorize, in writing, someone else to have access to view and/or update their education record. Students who wish to authorize the release of records to other individuals should complete and submit the FERPA Release form.

The completed FERPA Release form should be submitted to UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies Student Services:

  • In person or by mail to our La Jolla Student Services location
