Strategic planning for sustainability is one of the most sought after hard skills by today’s employers. In this course, students will gain the tools needed to identify and prioritize the issues and opportunities most relevant to their business or organization, set appropriate goals, and develop and integrate new strategies. Topics include risk assessment, materiality, stakeholder engagement, benchmarking, and metrics used to measure the success of sustainable initiatives. Students also explore strategies for working cross-functionally within an organization and with external stakeholders and partners and will develop a sustainability initiative for a specific business or organization.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain a working knowledge of the strategic planning process
  • Be able to complete a materiality assessment for a company
  • Know how to set goals and objectives that deliver impact for sustainable organizations
  • Learn to identify appropriate metrics
  • Understand the role of stakeholder engagement and how to build and manage internal and external stakeholder teams to own sustainability initiatives and meet sustainability targets
  • Develop a sustainability initiative for a specific industry or business

He graduated from the Sustainability MBA program at Yale University, focusing studies on topics such as how resource depletion poses material risks to corporations’ bottom line and shareholder value, as well as how companies manage the complexities of sustainability from a corporate finance perspective. Expertise in designing and establishing sustainability practices for organizations based on financial materiality, diversity, and global sustainability standards and frameworks.
