Revit I: Introduction

ARCH-40009

Course Duration: 2.5 Weeks
Suggested Prerequisites: Good command of the Windows Environment | AutoCAD Experience
Quarters Offered: Winter | Spring | Summer | Fall

Revit I: Introduction provides a practical foundation in Building Information Modeling (BIM) using Autodesk Revit, the industry-standard platform for architectural design and documentation.

Designed for architects, interior designers, engineers, and construction professionals, this course introduces you to the core tools and workflows used to create intelligent 3D building models that automatically generate coordinated plans, elevations, schedules, and construction drawings.

Course Details

Through guided, hands-on projects, you’ll learn how Revit connects building elements and information in a single model so that changes update across all views in real time. Starting from a project template, you’ll build a complete BIM model, develop floor plans and elevations, create 3D perspectives, and assemble professional drawing sheets. Along the way, you’ll explore best practices for modeling, documenting, and presenting your work efficiently.

Taught by an Autodesk Certified Instructor and working architectural professional, this online course combines video instruction, practice files, discussions, and regular feedback to support your learning. By the end of the course, you’ll understand how Revit streamlines collaboration and documentation—and you’ll have the confidence to apply BIM tools immediately in professional design and construction environments.

What You'll Learn

  • Explain core Revit concepts and how they support Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows
  • Navigate the Revit interface and apply essential modeling and documentation tools
  • Create a coordinated 3D building model including walls, floors, roofs, stairs, and curtain walls
  • Generate floor plans, elevations, 3D views, sheets, and schedules directly from the model
  • Produce clear, presentation-ready architectural drawings and PDF construction documents
