Effective performance management is the key to leveraging employee talent and creativity in a dynamic 21st century workplace. When done correctly, it becomes fundamental to an organization's ability to select, train, retain, reward, and motivate the right talent in the right ways to execute strategy. This course focuses on performance management as a contribution to organizational strategy, linking all the elements of organizational success into a single, aligned approach. Students will learn how to design practices and administer a system that fully engages, and optimizes the performance of employees in the success of the enterprise.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:
- Identify the purposes of performance management within an organization.
- Articulate the difference between judging and coaching for performance and the impact of each on human behavior.
- Align and integrate specific performance management practices within the context of an organization's overall talent philosophy.
- Design and implement a performance management system for simplicity and impact.
- Translate organizational strategy and goals into individual performance measures and
- Assess performance (their own as well as those of classmates) through a simulation of an organization's performance management model.

Her areas of expertise include leadership development programming and facilitation, defining organizational mission, vision, and values, creative evaluation approaches for measuring impact, and organization/culture assessment and design. Currently the Head of People & Culture for a clean technology company, Palmetto, and formerly the Chief People Officer of NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School).
An area of passion and distinct subject matter expertise for Andi is the creation, maintenance, and sustainability of remote or virtual communities. She has published articles on the topic in the International Journal of e-Collaboration as well as for Fast Co. and the American Management Association.
Committed to enabling change through emerging leaders and with a degree in nonprofit communication, Andi has served several organizations in a pro bono capacity, most notably acting as the Executive Director of the Board for My Kaleidoscope Project.
Andi is known for her authentic leadership and genuine desire to invest in equitable, ethical, transformative causes and organizations.
