Introduction to Mosaic Sculpture

10 WEEKS | IN-CLASS | SPRING & FALL QUARTERS

Learn basic mosaic skills and advanced techniques to create 3-dimensional constructions and mosaic surfaces in relief. Create unique artwork for your home, garden, patio, or community. This class includes demonstrations, lectures and hands-on experience with a focus on 3-D construction techniques, finding and selecting the right materials, preparing and setting tesserae and grouting. Students will concentrate on a free-standing sculpture inspired by the work of Niki de St. Phalle suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

Course Fee: $350
Course Length: 10 weeks
Prerequisite: None
Note: Elective course for Art and the Creative Process professional certificate. 

Materials: Bring a sketch pad and pencils to the first class.
Materials Cost: $70 paid directly to the instructor at first class meeting. (Students may choose to purchase additional materials and their own tools from a variety of resources provided in class).
