GITC Strum + Sing - Beginner Refresh

EDUC-X403.73

This class is for teachers and specialists who already took a Total Beginner level GITC class and feel they need review before moving on. You should be secure changing between 3 or more uke chords in Open C when you join Experienced Beginner. Not there yet? This Refresh class can help prepare you. But if you can play 3 chords, strum and sing, please move up to Experienced Beginner now rather than taking this class. Participants in Beginner Refresh will focus on simple chords, strumming, coordination and singing/playing at the same time, writing lyrics and leading songs with students. This course does not cover guitar. It does teach music leadership skills. Course Prerequisite: Total Beginner or Above Teachers and staff members providing educational, therapeutic and support services to students who take this class will learn to make foundational music in alignment with Tk-5 national and state standards for Music using percussion, voice and folk instruments. This class includes 6 instructional hours, 4 field/home practice and/or classroom contact hours with students or children. Skills taught in the course include healthy singing, songleading techniques and practice to build verbal and literacy skills, ukulele and guitar, songwriting lyrics for learning to drive academic and social-emotional content learning, musical activities and songs for behavior and classroom management, and differentiated instruction for specific learning styles. Instruments will be provided.
