This course explores some of the issues that impact adult education, with a focus on understanding the legislative process, governing boards, adult education funding sources, delivery systems, diversity among students and communities, and occupational trends as they impact adult education.

Karen Young, M.A.

Currently works for Ohio Virtual Academies, develops curriculum and instructional programs for the instructors.

Karen Young, PhD Karen is currently a Program Manager for the University of Michigan School of Education. Karen also serves as the Coordinator of Curriculum and Assessment for the Alternate Route to Teacher Certification at Schoolcraft College. Previously, Karen served as the Assessment and Accountability Administrator for Highpoint Virtual Academy and K-5 Principal.  In 2014, Karen had the honor of opening a brand new Japanese Immersion school, Niji-Iro Japanese Immersion Elementary School, where she also served as the Principal. Karen has held a variety of positions over her career such as At Risk Administrator with Ohio Virtual Academy, Curriculum Specialist with K12, Master Teacher of Curriculum and Instruction for California Virtual Academies, and teacher in brick and mortar schools.  Karen has her PhD in Educational Leadership specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. She is passionate about helping others educate all students in both the virtual and face-to-face environment.
