Copy Editing with Associated Press Style
WCWP-40335
Copy Editing with Associated Press Style (WCWP-40335)
6 Weeks | Online
This class takes a deep dive into the AP Stylebook. The Associated Press style guide is widely used by newspapers and magazines, corporate and personal websites and blogs, marketing/public relations departments, and communications departments at universities and colleges, hospitals, and organizations. Learn how AP style differs from The Chicago Manual of Style, obtain a working knowledge of how to effectively use the online AP Stylebook, and get more practice editing different types of material through weekly editing exercises. UC San Diego’s Copyediting Certificate classes, which include Grammar Lab, Copyediting I, Copyediting II, and Copyediting III, are taught using The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS). One of the differences between CMOS and Associated Press (AP) style is that AP uses copy editing as two words, while CMOS writes it as one word: copyediting. In this class you will learn about differences, such as these, between the two style guides.
