About the Teaching Adult Learners Program
The Teaching Adult Learners Professional Certificate is an online certificate program. The program is designed to prepare you to work with groups of adult learners in diverse and challenging environments. Whether you work in an educational or corporate setting, understanding how to teach and train adults can build effective management skills, make your classrooms much more effective and engaging, and ultimately advance your career to new levels of success.

Certificate Guidelines
All candidates who wish to receive the Teaching Adult Learners Professional Certificate are required to:
- Enroll in the Teaching Adult Learners certificate program.
- Pay the certificate fee.
- Complete all the required online courses with a grade of a "C" or better.
- Coursework must be completed within 5 years of beginning the program.
Students must first complete an Introduction to Online Learning and a Foundations of Curriculum Design and Evaluation.

Next Steps Experience
Connect your classroom education with real-world experiences through a Next Steps Experience course. These courses allow students to gain hands-on experience by working closely with instructors and/or peers on real-world projects.
Enrich your understanding of Teaching Adult Learners and explore topics such as foundations of curriculum and design; foundations of adult education; instructional practices; instructional technology tools; and effective strategies for teaching and training adults.
Candidates are also encouraged to take the Next Step by enrolling in the Adult Learners Capstone Portfolio where they develop their portfolio demonstrating the application of the skills and abilities learned throughout the program working collaboratively with a program advisor. During the application process, a prospective candidate should consider possible adult learners from his or her current company, employer, or volunteer organization; to apply learned skills and demonstrate results in delivering curriculum to adult learners.
State Board Requirements
EDUC 40989 Introduction to Teaching Online and EDUC 40990 Foundations of Curriculum Design and Evaluation are required prerequisites for all the other courses throughout the program.
Industry Requirements
If you wish to take one of the Teaching Adult Learners Professional Certificate online courses for professional development without registering for the program, you may do so. Simply register for an available section.
