From obtaining a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to enforcing the rights granted thereby, this course thoroughly explores aspects of the U.S. Patent System. The course places an emphasis on how rights are acquired and the scope of those protections. It will also cover recent U.S. Supreme Court and appellate level developments in the dynamic area of Patent Law, with an in-depth analysis of the requirements for patentability, validity, and enforceability of U.S. patents.

Mark M. Abumeri is a partner in Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP. He practices intellectual property law, focusing on patent prosecution and client counseling. He is experienced in conducting intellectual property due diligence for mergers, acquisitions and spin-offs. He has participated in various aspects of intellectual property litigation, from motion practice to trial.
Abumeri received a master's in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of technology and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
