EDUC-42594

Learning Design and Technologies
Prerequisite:
Introduction to Instructional Design or Teaching and Learning Online | 10 Weeks
Format:
Asynchronous Online with Instructor Feedback and Guidance Throughout

Technology continues to reshape how people teach, learn, and engage with content. In this course, you’ll explore the foundational theories, design models, and best practices that drive effective technology-enhanced learning experiences in both academic and corporate settings.

Course Details

You'll begin by examining how learning theories influence the integration of educational technologies—from multimedia and mobile apps to simulations, LMS platforms, and AI-powered tools. Through real-world examples, you'll explore the opportunities and challenges of using these tools to improve engagement, accessibility, and learner outcomes.

Rather than focusing on a specific set of tools, this course offers a critical survey of what’s available across learning environments and industries. You’ll gain insight into how instructional designers, educators, and training professionals make strategic decisions about technology use to align with learning goals. This broader view prepares you to evaluate and implement emerging solutions with flexibility, creativity, and purpose.

What You'll Learn

  • Explain how foundational learning theories support the use of educational technologies in various settings
  • Analyze the affordances and limitations of instructional technologies in both education and corporate training environments
  • Identify learning models and frameworks commonly used in tech-enhanced instructional design
  • Evaluate emerging technologies—such as mobile tools, multimedia platforms, or AI—for their pedagogical relevance
  • Examine ethical considerations related to the adoption of digital learning tools
  • Develop a strategic plan or proposal for integrating  technology in a learning context, aligned to learning goals
