Lesson 13-16 of the textbook will be covered. Students will learn how to carry conversations in various situations such as looking for a job, giving and receiving gifts, and asking for and giving advice. They will also understand how the concept of Japanese in-group "uchi" and out-group "soto" are strongly connected with the language use. Reading and writing for a specific purpose with relevant kanji is also included.
Note: Recommended prerequisite: "Japanese for Communication VI", or the equivalent.

Wong, Yoko
Yoko Maruyama Wong is a native of Kanazawa, Japan. She earned her M.A. in Applied Linguistics at Ohio University. Yoko has over 25 years of experience teaching and tutoring Japanese to all ages both in Japan and in the U.S. She had taught Japanese at Kent State University, Case Western Reserve University, John Carroll University, Mesa College, and Southwestern College. In her classroom, she connects content to students’ real-life experiences. Besides teaching Japanese, Yoko enjoys writing Japanese calligraphy, gardening, hiking, and yoga.
