Digital Media Best Practices for Online Educators
No Prerequisite | 10 Weeks
Format:
Asynchronous Online with Instructor Feedback and Guidance Throughout

In today’s learning environments—whether in education, corporate training, or nonprofit sectors—your ability to thoughtfully select, design, and integrate digital media can transform the learner experience. This 10-week, fully online, asynchronous course is designed to give you practical skills and a strategic framework for using digital media effectively in online instruction. You’ll gain hands-on experience, expert guidance, and a deeper understanding of what makes multimedia tools work—not just look good—in a variety of learning settings.

Course Details

You’ll explore a range of digital content types including video, audio, graphics, and interactive media. Through applied projects, you'll evaluate which formats work best for specific learning goals, how to ensure accessibility and usability, and how to align media with current instructional design models like ADDIE, UDL, and SAM. Along the way, you'll examine real-world examples and current tools used by educators and trainers—learning to balance technical know-how with pedagogical purpose.

This course is perfect for educators transitioning to online or hybrid instruction, corporate trainers seeking more engaging solutions, or instructional designers looking to strengthen their digital production and planning skills. You'll also receive peer and instructor feedback as you develop media-enhanced content that can be featured in your instructional design portfolio.
