Case managers are needed in all areas of healthcare delivery when meeting the needs of patients and families. Healthcare professionals (RNs, MDs, RT, LVN, social workers) are eligible to become certified Case Managers. This course delivers training to become a case manager. Topics covered: Essentials of Case Management, Physical & Psychological Factors: Introduction to Clinical Pathways/Practice Guidelines, Insurance Lines & Health Benefits Plans, Legal Responsibilities, Social Work Responsibilities, Disability Management, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Advanced Illness Management, Active Duty Military and Veterans, & Student Presentation of Case Studies. Course is 9 full day class sessions, plus a case study project presented over one full day; an 11th day is scheduled for presentations when class exceeds 15 students.

This program offers 72 BRN CE hours and 72 Contact Hours.
This course provides 72 Contact Hours. Units/CEUs: Family & Preventive Medicine: 9 units; Registered Nurses: 72 hours re-licensure credit.
Contact Hours are rewarded for the completion of the following criteria:
- Final grade of Pass/70% or higher
- Full (100 %) attendance is required for CEU credit, no partial credit is permitted.
- Students must meet all class requirements, including submission and presentation of the final case study, and
- Course must be taken for either a Letter Grade or Pass/No Pass grading option.
