Case managers are needed in all areas of healthcare delivery when meeting the needs of patients and families. Healthcare professionals (RNs, MDs, RT, LVN, social workers) are eligible to become certified Case Managers. This course delivers training to become a case manager. Topics covered: Essentials of Case Management, Physical & Psychological Factors: Introduction to Clinical Pathways/Practice Guidelines, Insurance Lines & Health Benefits Plans, Legal Responsibilities, Social Work Responsibilities, Disability Management, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Advanced Illness Management, Active Duty Military and Veterans, & Student Presentation of Case Studies. Course is 9 full day class sessions, plus a case study project presented over one full day; an 11th day is scheduled for presentations when class exceeds 15 students.

NOTE: Summer 2022 classes will be offered via live Zoom remote delivery format. Zoom class sessions will be held on Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, from 07/09/22 - 09/03/22, with two classes scheduled on Friday, 08/26/22 & 09/02/22. Students must have a Zoom account to participate.
This program offers 72 BRN CE hours. To receive CEUs:
- 100% attendance is required in ALL class sessions;
- Students must meet all class requirements, including submission and presentation of final case study, and
- Course must be taken for either a Letter Grade or Pass/No Pass grading option
Other Credits: BRN: 72 CE hours.
Note: Required for Specialized Certificate in Case Management. Completion of this course prepares qualified candidates for the Certified Case Manager (CCM) designation examination, offered through the Commission for Case Manager Certification.
