Adobe Photoshop I: Introduction

An introduction to Adobe Photoshop, the imaging software application used by professional graphic artists to create and modify images for use in print and web media. This graphic design course includes topics about working with the tools and user interface, working with selections, retouching, correcting, and enhancing photographs, layer basics, masking, compositing, preparing files for the web, and more. Students learn through hands-on practice and a series of creative projects.

Required Materials: Adobe Photoshop (Creative Cloud) and LinkedIn Learning, which will be used as a reference guide.
Note: In-class students must bring a USB flash drive to class (minimum 8GB) or have a cloud storage subscription available.

Michael Lynch teaches Design History and Context for the Communication Design certificate program. Michael is an award-winning graphic designer who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and a Master of Arts in Education. He has over 19 years of experience as a full-time post secondary instructor. He has taught many courses in image manipulation, typography, concept design, art direction, marker rendering, message making and many more.
Since 1993, Lynch has owned a successful design consultancy, LynchGrafx.
