The Specialized Certificate in Wireless Communications Technologist will provide you with the skills to implement and integrate wireless networking communication systems across a multifaceted global industry.
At the end of this program, you will:
- Understand FCC rules and regulations
- Learn about the different system architectures, lifecycles, and connectivity
- Gain experience with Implementation and Troubleshooting
This program may lead into a technical role within a communications company. You will gain technical aptitude and have the ability to apply this knowledge into real life scenarios for mission critical applications. If qualified, you may obtain additional experience through the internship elective course.

This generous grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation will help students across San Diego reach their full potential through UCSD Extended Studies specialized certificate in Wireless Communications Technologist. This program will provide students with the skills to implement and integrate wireless networking communication systems across a multifaceted global industry. This grant will allow 13 unique individuals to go through the program at no cost.
SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
The focus of this scholarship is to help young adults that have been greatly excluded from STEM careers gain access to technology and engineering education within San Diego, California.
- Adults or young adults.
- Do not hold a college degree
- Located in San Diego County, California
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
- Complete the Application: Please filling out the scholarship application form with all the required information by click on this link. Ensure that your details are accurate and submitted before the deadline of February 1st, 2025.

Eligibility Survey: After submitting your application, you will receive an eligibility survey via email. Complete the survey promptly to determine if you meet the scholarship criteria.

Interview Scheduling: If you qualify based on the eligibility survey, an interview will be scheduled with the scholarship committee. The interview will help assess your qualifications and interest in the program.

Final Decision: After the interview, the final decision regarding your scholarship application will be communicated to you. You will receive confirmation via email.
PROGRAM DETAILS
This program will be conducted in person at UC San Diego Extended Studies, and attendance is required throughout the duration of the certificate program.

Students can follow two course options depending on their current work experience:
New To The Field
Students with no experience in technology, it is recommended they take the 2 core courses and may choose one (1) among the following electives:

Students with some experience in the field, may take the core courses to refresh their knowledge and one (1) elective in the program.

Looking To Participate In The Internship?
Work With The Top Wireless Communications Companies
In this 120-hour in-person internship, you will learn how to diagnose, troubleshoot, discuss and resolve wireless communication equipment. In order to qualify for the internship, you must be registered in the Certificate Program, and be enrolled in at least 1 required course. You must apply directly with the desired company, and upon acceptance, may then enroll in the Internship Course.
