Donna Perdue

Bio

Donna O. Perdue, Ph.D. J.D., is the founder of Perdue IP Law, APC, a virtual law firm focusing on intellectual property (IP) law for the life sciences.  Her practice focuses on helping clients develop IP strategies to identify, protect, manage, and leverage intellectual assets.  Aspects of her practice include: patent drafting and prosecution; worldwide patent portfolio management; analysis of  validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate (FTO); IP audits; due diligence review; and consulting on IP management, IP policy, data protection, genetic resources management, and international agreements relating to IP and genetic resources.  Clients include start-ups, established companies, universities, research institutes, investment funds, non-governmental organizations, and intergovernmental organizations.  She served as lead subject matter expert for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) project on the Use of Information in the Public Domain for Economic Development, to develop strategies for using patent information to evaluate freedom to operate and public domain in ways that can support entrepreneurs in developing countries.
Dr. Perdue received a Ph.D. in plant physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology from Cornell University, with research focused on plant signal transduction systems, and a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.  
Dr. Perdue is admitted to practice law in California and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
