John O'Loughlin

Bio

He is an avid world traveler who holds a graduate degree in Bilingual Education with an emphasis on American Sign Language and English from UC San Diego. He graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., the only higher education institution that is designated to educate the Deaf and Hard of Hearing pupils. John is a passionate Deaf individual who is a native and fluent user in American Sign Language.  He spent significant time studying abroad in Brazil and China to acquire and understand its linguistic and cultural components and the differences of their sign languages. John is enthusiastic about distributing his knowledge and experience regarding badge languages (e.g., Brazilian Sign Language, Universal Sign Language, et cetera) and Deaf Culture through holistic approaches in the classroom.
