Michael Robert Woods


Michael Woods teaches Spanish for Healthcare Professionals I, II, and III for the Spanish for Healthcare Professionals certificate program. Michael is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter™ through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters with more than 10 years of experience teaching Spanish at the community college and university level. He also works as a freelance interpreter and translator through his own LLC. Michael holds a Master of Arts in Contemporary Hispanic/Latin@ Studies and completed doctoral coursework in Spanish sociolinguistics. He has taught a wide variety of courses ranging from beginning and intermediate Spanish to advanced grammar and writing, Spanish in the US, Spanish for Health Professions, Spanish as a Heritage Language, and most recently a Spanish for Healthcare Interpreter Training Program. Prior to teaching, interpreting, and translating, he served in the Peace Corps in Honduras, which laid the groundwork for his career in language instruction and language access.
