There are not many preventive measures and treatments for aging pathologies. However, an early, simple and personalized diagnosis of near future and distant abnormalities would allow us to live a healthier life. Over three decades of working in physics, neuroscience, nanoscience, and technology, Professor Lal has provided a paradigm shift in understanding what causes brain diseases, how to diagnose them, and how to deliver therapeutics. He will describe how his personalized precision nanosensors can be used to diagnose an array of diseases and pathologies, including dementia, cancer, heart diseases and infections accurately and with privacy.
Speaker Bio
Presenter: Ratnesh Lal holds joint professorships in mechanical engineering, materials science, and bioengineering at UC San Diego. Previously, he was a professor and the director of the newly established Center of Nanomedicine at the University of Chicago. He holds several patents relating to medical nanodevices for global health and emerging pathogens. He received his PhD in neurobiology from the University of Alabama Birmingham.
