Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

AI in China

Speaker Jimmy Goodrich
Coordinator Steve Clarey
This Zoom-only lecture features the return to Osher of Jimmy Goodrich, an expert on Chinese technology and artificial intelligence, to discuss the development of artificial intelligence in China.  He will discuss the role of government policy and funding, advantages of Chinese open-source AI models, and rapid industrial and robotics integration.  While the U.S. retains the lead in advanced chip design and computing hardware, China is pushing aggressively for chip self-sufficiency.  China is also making huge investments in STEM education.  Finally, he will address the question: “Is the U.S. still ahead of China in AI development.”
