October 18: Fred Benedetti, Guitarist
Guitarist Fred Benedetti, master of classical,
flamenco, world, popular and original music, is
Professor Emeritus, head of guitar studies at
Grossmont College, and part of the guitar program
at SDSU.
Born in Japan, he has studied with Andres Segovia
and has performed in England, Germany, Czech
Republic, Canada, Taiwan, Mexico and locally with
the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, Old
Globe Theatre, Dave Brubeck, Luciano Pavarotti,
among many other venues and performers.
November 22 Piers Lawrence, Jazz and Acoustic
Guitar
Guitarist Piers Lawrence is a soulful jazz guitarist,
composer, and producer, who has worked as a
professional musician in New York City for the past
20 years. He has recently relocated to San Diego
and is a La Jolla music teacher of theory and vocal
performance. Piers studied guitar and composition
at the Conservatoire de Musique de Lausanne. His
Broadway credits include Guys and Dolls, Dancin’,
and Hubie.
