Kidneys: All You Need to Know and Should Know

This lecture will review the important role of the
kidneys in filtering blood and removing waste
products and extra fluids from the body, as well
as regulating blood pressure. It will focus on
physical changes in the kidneys as we age and the
importance of a healthy lifestyle in preserving kidney
functions. Both common diseases, like urinary tract
infections (UTI), and rarer diseases like chronic kidney
disease will be discussed, as well as the latest in
kidney disease treatments including dialysis
and transplants.


Speaker Bio

Presenter: Dr. Robert Steiner is a Professor
of Medicine at UC San Diego and the
Medical Director of the Kidney and Pancreas
Transplantation clinic. He is also the Medical
Director of Lifesharing Community Organ and
Tissue Donation. He received his M.D. from
Harvard Medical School in 1972.
