Featured Speaker: Professor Robert Steiner, M.D.
This lecture will review the important role of the
kidneys in filtering the blood and removing waste
products and extra fluids from the body, as well
as regulating blood pressure. It will focus on the
physical changes in the kidneys as we age and the
importance of a healthy life style in preserving kidney
functions. Both common diseases like urinary tract
infections (UTI) and uncommon diseases like chronic
kidney disease will be discussed, as well as the latest
in kidney disease treatments including dialysis and
transplants.
Presenter Biography
Robert Steiner is a Professor
of Medicine at UC San Diego and the
Medical Director of the Kidney and Pancreas
Transplantation clinic. He is also the Medical
Director of Lifesharing Community Organ and
Tissue Donation. He graduated from the Harvard
Medical School in 1972.
