Something in Preserve - An Original Osher Musical

On Saturday April 21, 2018 I attended this original Osher musical. Having missed the initial performance of the show last year, I didn’t know what to expect. Arriving early on Saturday I had to wait outside classroom 129, because the performers were getting ready. Once inside the classroom it was clear there would be a full house for the show.

The audience was very enthusiastic about the show, and became involved enough to boo the show’s charming villain several times. A good sign! The show was presented in two acts with a ten minute intermission. The time passed quickly because the performance was most enjoyable. Everyone involved with “Something in Preserve,” did a fine job.

This original musical conceived and written by Elliott Tarson, Ilene Hubbs, Reed Sullivan, and Jeff Earnest tells the story of a group of seniors in an upscale senior retirement community who decide to write an original musical—it is a story within a story. Add to that the budding romance of a widow and widower and the never to be realized love of a single woman and a man with a wife who can no longer communicate, and you have a poignant, relevant and often funny take on senior life. With a cast of more than twenty-five Osher members, three non-members, and twenty original musical numbers, the show was a hit with the audience.
