Qualcomm to host hi-tech ‘Innovation Crossroads,’ May 31, 2014
UC San Diego Extension and CONNECT will present the inaugural “Innovation Crossroads,” an invitation-only panel discussion with leading figures in high technology, life sciences, and politics, on Saturday, May 31, 8 am to 11 am at Qualcomm Inc., in San Diego.
The event will feature a forum with the following panelists:
-
Paul Jacobs, executive chairman, global technology leader Qualcomm Inc.;
-
Greg Lucier, founder of biotech giant Life Technologies, now board chairman of Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute;
-
U.S. Congressman Scott Peters, who represents the 52nd Congressional District covering much of San Diego
Moderated by The Atlantic magazine editor-at-large Steve Clemons, the panel will examine how policies and regulations impact entrepreneurship and innovation and what government at all levels can do, or should be doing, to support the nation’s technology sector.
Discussion will also center around San Diego’s growing profile on a globally competitive scale and how the region could strengthen its ability to attract foreign investment, as well as become a global destination for increased innovation, capital, and talent.
The event is inspired by its late leader, Duane Roth, in tribute to his commitment to understanding the critical ways in which policy, industry, and innovation intersect.
