In this course, students will learn the complete analytics cycle, from determining requirements to extracting and disseminating information. It will cover the process, technologies, applications, tools, and skills required to analyze data so that informed and timely decisions can be made. Students will also be introduced to Artificial Intelligence (AI), its relationship with data analytics and its impact. Various aspects of AI will be covered including its background, benefits, risks and challenges, as well as its future and careers. The course will also encompass how to measure AI and simulate intelligence, AI components and sub-domains, AI categories, its tools and analytics.
This course provides students with a more comprehensive and intuitive understanding of Microsoft Excel, making many of its advanced technical aspects easier to grasp and apply in real-world scenarios. Excel will be explored through a combination of mind-provoking discussion topics and activities.
This course will teach dashboards and data visualization technologies, using an approach that will include theory as well as a significant hands-on component. Students will learn how to design and build dashboards, as well as create content of different types that can be incorporated into dashboards.
This 1-unit, asynchronous online seminar plus monthly in-person session is designed to prepare university students for successful participation in internships while building overall career readiness. Drawing on internship and career development resources from UC San Diego Career Services, Teaching + Learning Commons, and Student Employment, the course offers a structured pathway to help students identify meaningful opportunities, strengthen their application materials, and develop the professional skills expected by employers.
Through a series of interactive modules and on-demand workshops, students will explore strategies for personalized career planning, résumé and cover letter development, networking, interview preparation, and effective workplace communication. Students may choose from a curated selection of workshops, each paired with reflective activities and practical assignments that support their individual goals.
The course also includes guidance on setting internship objectives, understanding supervisor expectations, and maximizing learning outcomes throughout the internship experience.
