Organizations are faced with the challenge of keeping up with the latest hack-prevention strategies to protect their systems from cyber-attacks.

This course provides students with the latest commercial-grade hacking tools and tactics ethical hackers and information security experts require to lawfully hack business systems.

This unique and comprehensive course is attack-based and vendor neutral. Students will learn to think and act like hackers while applying techniques used by hackers. This course explores vulnerabilities in both hardware and software featuring content from diverse platforms and technologies. This course will prepare students for the Ethical Hacking Certification from EC-Council.

Course Learning Outcomes:

• Assess the current security protocols for popular operating environments
• Analyze preventive, corrective and protective countermeasures to safeguard systems against malicious attack
• Identify and crack multiple types of passwords, and effectively counter password attacks
• Apply the terminology, stages, classes, phases and methodologies of ethical hacking
• Describe cryptography & encryption techniques, and private/public key infrastructure
• Discuss common cyber attacks

Lab Fee: Students must purchase a uCertify license in order to access uCertify materials for this course. Student's uCertify licenses are valid for 4 months.

Course Typically Offered: Online in every quarter.

Prerequisite: A BS in Computer Science, equivalent knowledge and experience, or the course CSE-41363 Cybersecurity Fundamentals.
