Mainstreaming the Special Child

This course will give teachers valuable skills for promoting the integration of students with special needs in the regular classroom environment. Topics include state and federal special education legislation, the characteristics of exceptional learners, behavior management and problem solving techniques, teaching strategies, and consultation skills. Course previously numbered as EDUC 3V146.

CCTC Requirement

This course fulfills the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing prerequisite teaching special populations requirements for most K-12 preliminary teaching credential programs. This course can be taken on its own or through the California Induction Clear Credential program. A copy of the syllabus and a UC San Diego Extended Studies official transcript may be required for credentialing purposes. Students are responsible for sending this documentation to the CTC or their institution directly.
