This class also involves an on-site visit to a local elementary school, when possible.

Kelly Smith has taught ESL/EFL for twenty years in the U.S., Mexico and Italy. Although she has taught all subjects, her specialties include grammar, pronunciation and test prep courses. She also has extensive experience in designing and developing course outlines, curricula, lessons, activities, exams and materials. Furthermore, Ms. Smith is highly experienced as a teacher-trainer. She has prepared and presented professional development training workshops for teaching staff on various subjects including computer software and pronunciation & fluency. In addition, she has created a variety of training manuals for teaching staff.
Ms. Smith’s TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) experience includes teaching a variety of teacher-training courses in the areas of pronunciation, reading and culture (Best Methods in Teaching Pronunciation and Fluency, Introduction to Pronunciation and Fluency for Language Teachers, Theory and Methods of Reading Instruction, Cross-Cultural Issues in Language Teaching). In addition, she has instructed two TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners) teacher-training courses (Focus on the Learner and Focus on the Classroom). She has also developed curriculum for and instructed an online reading course via Blackboard for the TEFL program (Theory and Methods of Reading Instruction).
