SDUSD Micro-Credential: Accelerating Readers: Early, Transitional, Early Fluent

EDUC-X424.03

In this course, educators will deepen their understanding around how to accelerate readers in the Early, Transitional, and Early Fluent stages of reading. We will focus on various ways to utilize small group instruction to facilitate acceleration in students’ ability to read, think and talk about increasingly complex texts. Participants will see examples of what instruction might look like in the areas of reading, language, writing, and word study. Additionally, participants will consider how having clarity of purpose, letting students do the work, and noticing and naming reading behaviors can enhance and strengthen their literacy instruction to help ensure reading success for all students.
