Principles of Play-Based Learning

EDUC-42643

Play-based learning, also known as “playful learning,” is not at all a new concept in the traditional education system, but more like a forgotten treasure that has since been rediscovered, working its way back into the forefront. Learning to successfully build a program/center where learning takes place through play benefits a child's early developmental skills by providing a natural environment for children to explore, practice, and master skills that are connected to developmentally appropriate practices. This course is intended for educators and leaders looking to explore options of integrating play into their learning environment by first providing an in-depth understanding of what play-based learning is and then utilizing this knowledge to create a safe learning environment that adheres to state rules and regulations.

What you'll learn

By the end of the course, students will understand how to successfully oversee that each domain of development is supported for growth. Students will also gain the ability to confidently share this information with parents, so they too are aware of how learning through play is an essential part of early childhood education.
